Happy Wednesday readers! The month is halfway over already and it’s time for another round of the Paper Crafting Monthly Blog Hop!
Sale-A-Bration is in full swing and this is my favorite time of the year. What is Sale-A-Bration? It’s Stampin’ Up’s biggest event of the year! For every $50 in products you purchase between now and March 31st, you can choose FREE items from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. It’s that easy!
Since this month’s hop is all about Sale-A-Bration, for my project I wanted to highlight a stamp set from the brochure that normally wouldn’t be my style of bright and bold. When I saw the Home to Roost set, I immediately knew I had to get it. It is the perfect set for coloring with any type of media from Stampin’ Blends, Watercolor Pencils to our regular Stampin’ Write markers.
Definitely not my normal style of crafting but I love the rustic look and how this turned out. I started with a piece Gray Granite cardstock and removed about 1 inch of paper from the side of the card. I used the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and did a peek a boo on the inside of the card to make it show through.
I embossed the top portion of the card using the Hexagon Embossing Folder. Using Tranquil Tide cardstock, I cut the scalloped square from the Layering Square Dies and layered with the Stitched Shape Dies.
I stamped my rooster in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored him in with Stampin’ Blends. I chose the colors of Light Bermuda Bay, Light Mango Melody, and Light Cherry Cobbler. The sentiment was stamped in Tranquil Tide and I used the Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend on the Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon. This technique is great as you can color the ribbon to be any color you want and match your project!

That embossing folder is perfect! for the background with the rooster. I really like what you did with this image. Nice.
I love the way you colored the ribbon with the blends marker. I wish my bows turned out as nice as yours did. I love your card. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic use for the Blends on the ribbon. Like your shading on the focal point too. Thanks for hopping with us!
Love, Love, Love your card. The Embossing folder is the perfect background.
Anastasia, that rooster is a-w-e-s-o-m-e!!
I love the rooster and the fold showing the wood grain dsp.
I wasn't taken with the rooster at first but the more cards I see like yours I'm changing my mind and I'm becoming a fan. Thanks for sharing the tip about using blends to color ribbon—love it and I will be coloring ribbon as soon as I can–it really makes the card pop! Thank you for sharing.
