Stampers by the Dozen October 2018 – Color Challenge!

The weekend has finally come and it’s time for another round of the Stampers by the Dozen hop!

This month is all about the colors as we were tasked with a color challenge!  While these are colors I normally would not have used together, it was a great challenge to create something using them.  As soon as I saw the colors, I just knew I needed to incorporate Stampin’ Blends!

I love the way this card turned out!  It’s bright and bold and just my style.  I started with a Poppy Parade cardstock base and layered using Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron.  Using the Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I gave some soft texture to Whisper White cardstock.
The Beautiful Day stamp set is the perfect choice for pairing together with Stampin’ Blends.  When using this stamp set, you need to use the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink as it won’t smear when coloring.  For the butterfly, I choose the light and dark colors of the Stampin’ Blends with Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade taking time to make shadows where I felt they worked the best.
I stamped my sentiment in Poppy Parade ink on a piece of Pool Party cardstock.  It’s a little hard to tell in the photo because even the dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blend is pretty light, but I colored the Clear Faceted Gems in Pool Party ink to give them that color.  This technique is great to make the gems any color you want!
