ICS Blog Hop – Myths & Magic

January is here, the first Wednesday of the month is here, and it’s time for another edition of the Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop!  I arrived back home yesterday from spending time with my family in Iowa for Christmas and now it’s time to swing in to January and Sale-A-Bration!  Sale-A-Bration is Stampin’ Up!s biggest annual promotion where for every $50 you purchase before tax and shipping, you receive a free item! New this year is the addition of a second tier for $100 where you can choose bigger and better items for your free item!

This month we are focusing on getting you to that magic $50 benchmark so you can reap the Sale-A-Bration benefits!  For my project this month, I wanted to highlight the new Myths & Magic stamp set with coordinating dies.

When I received this stamp set at On Stage celebration in November I fell in love with it!  Unicorns and rainbows are very popular right now and I couldn’t wait to add a little sparkle to this set!
This set is perfect for kids but also a great set for adults who never want to grow up.  There are so many color combinations that would work for this set and the possibilities are endless, but for my project, I had to go the rainbow route!  This is a simple card with very little technique needed but packs a big and bright punch!

For my project, I used the Aqua Painter and picked up my color from squeezing my ink pads to get ink into the top of the case.  I made a rainbow on watercolor paper and stamped my unicorn on Shimmery White paper.  I used the Aqua Painter to pick up more colors to color the unicorn and then when dry, I colored over it with my Wink of Stella brush to give it even more sparkle!

Isn’t that ribbon extra sparkly and gives the project a pop of texture. It’s a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog called the Shimmer Ribbon Pack!  The ribbon comes in a three pack of three different colors and three different ribbon sizes and all have a shimmery look!  I used the Calypso Coral ribbon which is 3/8″ wide.
