Its time for another challenge! This past week I participated in the first ever challenge for the Fab Friday Blog and I’m at it again with their second ever challenge! I wanted to create an unconventional card. I got to thinking the other day, why not make a baby card that isn’t the stereotypical blue or pink? Why not make it fun and different?!
This weeks challenge was a color inspired theme. I haven’t used So Saffron very much and it seems to be coming up more and more in the challenges. I think its a sign I need to invest in the ink pad 🙂 The challenge can be found at http://fabfridaystampinchallenge.blogspot.com. Heres the challenge:
I also wanted to do another sketch challenge to help me become more inspired. I have not participated in a Freshly Made Sketches challenge and in celebration of their blog being one year old, they allowed us to chose any challenge from over the past year. Their blog challenge can be found at http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com. I chose #23, this sketch challenge:
Here’s what I came up with:
I love the way it came out! This card is gender neutral and can be used for anything baby such as a recent birth, a pregnancy announcement or even an infant birthday card. I used Sahara Sand ink on the crib and sponging around the banner and Basic Gray ink on the banner stamp!
Supplies Used (All from Stampin’ Up! unless noted):
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, So Saffron
Specialty Paper: Howlstooth Designer Series Paper, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Gray, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, American Crafts Elegant Ballroom Ribbon #4, small heart punch, foam pop-up squares, Bitty Banners framelets, stampin’ sponges
Stamp Sets: Little Additions, Itty Bitty Banners

Love these colors for a gender neutral baby card. The heart is a nice finishing touch! Thanks for joining us (again!) at Fab Friday!
This is a great baby card! I love the embossed background and the little banner. So cute! Thanks for being a regular at Fab Friday! 😉
This is fantastic! I love to see colors being used out of the box and these are actually quite perfect for a baby card. Love the textured background and the pretty patterned paper squares. And thanks for joining our anniversary challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!
P.S. It would be really helpful if you turned off Word Verification. It's so difficult to decipher those numbers and letter. Thanks.
Thank you for letting me know about the word verification! I didn't even know I had it set! And thanks for commenting! I'm very happy with the outcome!
I love the non-traditional colors on this baby card – pure genius! Thanks for joining us at FMS!
This is just fantastic! I, too, am in love with the non-traditional colors palette that works so beautifully here! Glad you joined us for this special week at FMS!
I love this card! This is the perfect card to have on hand for either a boy or girl! 🙂 So glad to see you back in the swing of stamping! 🙂
Cute! Great idea to use the colors for a baby card! I love that little additions stamp set! Thanks for playing at Fab Friday:-) And congrats on being first, hehe!
This is just darling! You are right, who says baby cards all have to be in the same colors. I love the way the so saffron heart pops on your pretty card.
