Confessions of a Traveling Stamper

It has been quite a busy week for me! From applying for a job on base at the Information, Ticket, and Travel office to hanging out with friends its been non stop!
Last Friday, my husband and I attend the Air Force Ball (I had talked about it a little in last weeks post).  We had a great time socializing with people that he works with and it was great to see some of my friends all dressed up! The food was an odd assortment (spaghetti, ham, Caesar salad, roast beef) but overall was great!
My husband is showing off his Iowa State alumni status with what is called a ‘party’ shirt!  Military guys sometimes wear these under their service coats and its great because unless he took the coat off you wouldn’t know he was wearing his! My mom put that together for him while he was in Korea and I LOVE the way it looks!
Yesterday some friends and I went to a local market here.  Each week different cities around the area have street markets almost like farmer’s markets back in the states.  You can get anything from wallets, to purses, fresh cheese (which is SO cheap and amazing!), seafood, clothing, flowers, and of course fresh fruits and veggies that are wonderful.  I bought a birthday present for my sister (can’t say what they are in case she reads this), some brie cheese, white peaches, and fresh green beans.

After the market, a friend and I went to a local mall.  It was tiny but still nice to get out of the house.  On the way home, we stopped at McDonald’s to see how it was here in Italy.  There are not tons of them around here (only 2 in a pretty spread out area) unlike the states where they are EVERYWHERE.  I just ordered some fries since it was for a snack but I was able to see how things just are different.  Although the fries tasted the same, I also ordered a small Coke Light (aka Diet Coke) and it actually was SMALL, which was perfect.
I noticed on the menu the had different items we can’t get in the states such as gelato, a NYC sandwich (which was a breaded chicken breast, bacon and cheese…not sure how that is NYC), miami fries (not sure what they were), and a spicy beef wrap.  I do want to go back sometime and try something that we can’t get in the states.
That was my week! I spent a lot of time hanging out with friends on base, making cards in my craft room and spending time with my doggies! I leave you with a card that I made for my friend Bree.  She wanted a card to send to her mother in law just to say hi.  I think it turned out GREAT!  Have a wonderful weekend!
