Colour Combo Blog Hop – September 2018

The middle of the week is finally here and it’s time for another month of the Colour Combo Blog Hop!

It’s all about the greens with a splash of Gorgeous Grape this month!  I don’t normally work with green unless it is the holiday season but it was nice to get out of my comfort zone for this hop and to try a color combo I normally would not have used.  I really love Gorgeous Grape so I was excited to see it as one of our choices.

For my project, I wanted to highlight one of my favorite stamp sets from the Annual Catalog called Abstract Impressions.  I love how this set can be used in a variety of occasion cards and that it is a layer set so you can change the way the flowers look by adding different colors.
I started off with a Garden Green card stock base and layered using Gorgeous Grape card stock.  Next I used the Old Olive ink with the larger grass stamp and laid down my grass base layer.  Coming over top of it with the skinnier grass stamp and Garden Green, it gave my grass some dimension.  I stamped the flowers in the Gorgeous Grape as its a perfect flower color.
I used the Old Olive Dark Stampin’ Blend to color in the Basic Pearl stones I placed on the flowers to give the card some pop.  I made a little boo boo on the card but was able to recover it by added the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon over top and you can’t even tell there was an accidental dropping of a colored pearl there!  Stamping is all about adapting when things go wrong sometimes and I love how this ribbon makes the card finished too.
