I’m Coming Back…Slowly!

I am happy to announce that my craft room is ready enough for me to create some great projects!  It took a little while to get everything put away (and although it is there are still some minors things that need to be finished) BUT I was able to create my first card in the land of pasta today!
My younger sisters birthday was on the 19th of August and since it was right in the middle of us moving and living in the hotel on base, I wasn’t able to create her a handmade card.  I knew right away the first card I wanted to do was her birthday day.  She turned 22nd and like all college students, was able to celebrate with her friends at one of the bars at Iowa State where she goes to school.
I also wanted to participate in my first challenges! I haven’t done these before because honestly I was a little afraid since there are so many talented designers that participate, but I figured that my skills are at that level now that I can!
This card is actually brought on from two challenges.  The first is the ColourQ Challenge #153.  This weeks challenge can be found on their site at http://colourq.blogspot.com

I also wanted to incorporate a new challenge which is a sketch challenge meaning the design is already constructed you just put your own spin on the look.  The sketch challenge that I went with was Fab Friday’s sketch.  They are a brand new challenge crew and are all Stampin’ Up! demos as well!  The first challenge can be found on their site at http://fabfridaystampinchallenge.blogspot.com

Now for my card! I think I did a great job for my first challenges and my first card in Italy wouldn’t you say?!  I hope that my sister loves the card and I hope you love it as well! I love how I used foam pop-up squares to make the middle glass, lemon, and umbrella pop from the card.  It really gives it good dimension!  I also curled the banner to make it look like its swaying so its not just flat on the paper as well.

Supplies Used (all items are from Stampin’ Up!):
Cardstock: Calypso Coral, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Specialty Paper: Silver Glimmer Paper, Floral District Designer Series Paper
Stamp Set: Happy Hour
Punches: (Both are retired items) Triple Flower, Eyelet Border
Accessories: Polka Dot Embossing Folder, 3/8th inch Designer Printed Brads, Foam Pop-Up Squares

  1. Fun card! Makes me want to go fix a drink for myself and sit out in the sunshine! The popped up elements really finish the card off! Thanks for playing along with us at Fab Friday!

  3. I used the Stampin' Markers to color the glasses. The Chocolate chip marker I used the fine tip to slowly trace the edge and then used the other colored marker to color in the design in the middle. You just have to be careful about not touching the colored marker to the brown lines.
